LinkStack's advantage

Operational depth for self-hosted instances.

LinkStack's official feature list is extensive: user registration and verification, drag-and-drop ordering, custom themes, external analytics, multiple domains, import and export, backups, SMTP, single-user mode and a security monitor. That is valuable when the application itself is the platform you want to operate.

It also offers several ways to begin. The official project documents local or Docker deployment, community-hosted instances and paid official hosting. That makes "open source" and "hosted" choices rather than mutually exclusive labels.

OrbitPage's difference

OrbitPage's open repository contains the editor, block system, themes, public renderer and local administration. The private managed platform adds Firebase identity, isolated workspaces, plan enforcement, R2 media, publishing, moderation, billing and custom-domain automation.

Public pages are generated as static HTML and assets when the owner publishes. Visitors are served through Cloudflare and do not boot an individual application instance. This architecture is aimed at predictable hosted cost and fast public delivery, while the OSS edition remains available for people who prefer to run the product themselves.

License and operation

MIT and AGPL-3.0 support different expectations.

OrbitPage's MIT license is permissive: it allows broad use, modification and redistribution while retaining the license notice. LinkStack's current AGPL-3.0 license is a strong copyleft license with source-sharing obligations that can apply when modified software is offered over a network.
